Get a Great Smile With Invisible Braces

Wearing braces used to involve large, ugly metal pieces stuck to your teeth. Many adults have rejected the idea of wearing braces because they felt they would look unprofessional or unattractive. Now there is a better way. I have been using invisible braces in my dental clinic for many years, and this blog will show you the variety of options you have for getting straighter teeth without traditional braces. Braces can now be completely clear, can be adhered to the back of you teeth, or can be used in the form of an invisible tray that fits over your teeth. 3 Types Of Sedation Dentistry

It used to be that if you were scared of the dentist, you either wouldn't go until you absolutely had to or you would just suck it up. But, nowadays there's another option: sedation dentistry. This type of dentistry was created for patients who are really scared and anxious to go to the dentist to help them stay calm during the entire procedure. But, depending on the type of procedure you are having and how much anxiety you have, there are different sedation options for you to choose from. Ready to learn more? If so, read on.

Valium or Xanax

The lightest form of sedation dentistry is when a dentist administers an anti-anxiety drug like valium or Xanax. These drugs are usually taken a little bit before you come into the dentist so that they kick in once you're in the dental chair. Usually, because this form of sedation is a little bit lighter, and it's just used for basic things like dental cleanings or checkups. Talk to your dentist about this type of sedation dentistry before you go in for your next dental cleaning. One thing to know about taking these pills is that you should have someone drive you home afterwards because they can make you a bit drowsy.

Laughing Gas

Another form of sedation dentistry is laughing gas. You may have gotten laughing gas when you were little at a time when you had a cavity and needed a filling. Laughing gas is designed to help relax, you but you will be conscious the entire time. One of the best things about laughing gas is that there really aren't any side effects, and you should be able to drive home right afterwards without having anyone drive you.

IV Sedation

The next level of sedation that your dentist may offer is IV sedation. This type of sedation will make it so that you're still technically conscious, but you won't remember much of anything. Also, this type of sedation is usually used for large procedures like having to get a dental crown put on, having surgery to put a dental implant in place, or having to get a root canal done. Remember to have someone pick you up after your appointment if you go with this type of sedation.

These are just three of the lower types of sedation dentistry that you can talk to your dentist about. By letting your dentist know ahead of time that you suffer from anxiety and stress, they can help you feel more prepared with one of these options.
